Fantasy decisions in context.
Start with the team, compare the whole cost, and keep the fact that could change the answer.
These are explanations and clearly labeled illustrations, not current recommendations, private team data or installed ChatGPT captures. Missing evidence remains unknown.
Who gets your last WR spot?
Illustrative example · fictional players and figures
A short opportunity window can support a lean without proving a scoring advantage. Keep the current assignment and the bench alternative visible.
Example football team · Full PPR
Lean Jordan Vale for WR2
More receiving work supports the bench option in Full PPR.
Two-week example window
Targets
16 catches · 203 yards
6 catches · 105 yards
Current WR2: Casey Ellis. Jordan Vale is on the bench.
Confirm both players’ current roles and your league’s WR2 lock before changing the lineup.
Reasoning and sources
A two-week sample is narrow. Targets describe opportunity, not a forecast or a guaranteed scoring advantage.
Illustrative figures only. This is not player reporting, a current recommendation or an installed ChatGPT capture.
A claim includes its cut.
Compare the incoming player with the bench option, the player you give up and Hold. A free agent uses Add; a waiver player uses Claim. A legal zero bid is still zero.
Read the full waiver method →- First claim Incoming player + required drop + supported bid or priority + its own cutoff.
- After an actual failure Recheck ownership, Add/Claim route, legal cut, funds and the fallback’s remaining window.
A manual fallback is not a second independent acquisition. It does not inherit the first claim’s deadline.
Reasoning and sources
Exclusive alternatives and independent current claims have different combined exposure. Pending commitments remain separate from the nominal balance. A spending cap is not a predicted winning bid.
Read both sides of a trade.
Player value alone misses the roster cost. Inspect the replacement, future cover and any additional cut each team would need.
You give
Outgoing player and the role your replacement must cover.
You receive
Incoming player, resulting slot and any required roster cost.
The other roster keeps its own consequences. Do not invent its cut or an acceptance probability.
Reasoning and sources
Compare Hold and owned alternatives under the league’s scoring, horizon and applicable keeper costs. Unlike role units are not a fair-value scale.
Check activation before making a cut.
Reserve membership, eligibility, active space, a legal cut and locks each affect the sequence.
- Establish prerequisites Resolve the particular missing permission, classification or lock.
- Compare the complete cost Keep activation, waiting and Hold available as the evidence permits.
- Make the manual moves only when supported An irreversible cut is not the first instruction while a prerequisite is unknown.
Sometimes the useful answer is Hold.
Keep a started player in the exact locked slot. Preserve coverage when a proposed pickup or trade does not justify its cost.
- What stays
- The owned player, exact assignment and available resources.
- What could change the call
- A specific new role, eligibility, timing or alternative—not a generic promise to recheck.
Opportunity is different from points.
Use comparable windows, raw denominators and clear units. Distinguish observed production, projections, expert opinion and inference.
- Role evidence
- Targets, routes or carries over a named window and sample.
- Countercase
- What the sample misses and which material change could reverse the lean.
- Forecast
- Only a compatible supplied projection; a total is not invented catches, yards or touchdowns.
Return to the decision you actually made.
Existing work keeps its original team, revision, rationale and evidence dates. Reopening it does not check providers or create a new plan.
- Original reasoning
- Why the earlier choice was supported then.
- New evidence, if separately checked
- The named change and its own original clock.
Public new-plan creation is not offered. An answer or comparison is not a saved record.
NHL points has its own clock.
Supported ESPN NHL head-to-head points planning retains the selected date, timezone, native season and fantasy period.
- Team schedule
- A game listing, with its original source time and coverage.
- Goalie start or lineup lock
- Separate evidence. A team game proves neither.
A no-game conclusion needs the full local interval and complete provider witness. It describes the provider’s schedule as of those captures, not permanent future absence.
